Father’s Day: Honouring Fathers, and Fathers-to-Be

Father’s Day is a time to celebrate the men who guide, support, protect, and love their children. It is a day to honour fathers who have already experienced the joys and challenges of parenthood.

But today, I would also like to recognize another group of men—those who dream of becoming fathers.

As an obstetrician and fertility physician, I have had the privilege of caring for thousands of individuals and couples over the past three decades. Along the way, I have witnessed the excitement of positive pregnancy tests, the joy of healthy births, and the profound love that parents feel for their children. I have also seen the heartache of infertility and the often-overlooked emotional burden carried by men who long to become fathers.

Infertility is frequently portrayed as a women’s issue, yet male factors contribute to nearly half of all cases of infertility. Many men silently carry concerns about their fertility while supporting their partners through investigations and treatment. Their hopes, fears, disappointments, and dreams deserve recognition as well.

To every man who is hoping, planning, preparing, or struggling on the journey toward fatherhood, I want you to know that your fertility matters. Your health matters. And your dream of becoming a father matters.

One of the reasons I wrote Optimize Your Fertility Naturally: A Holistic Guide to Achieving a Healthy Pregnancy was to help both women and men understand the many factors that influence fertility and the practical steps they can take to optimize their chances of conceiving a healthy child.

This Father’s Day carries special meaning for me because I am delighted to share that the book recently achieved #1 Best Seller status on Amazon in Men’s Sexual Health and Infertility. I am deeply grateful to everyone who purchased, shared, reviewed, and supported the book. My hope is that it will empower more individuals and couples with knowledge, inspire meaningful conversations about reproductive health, and remind people that fertility is an important reflection of overall health.

Whether you are a father, a grandfather, a stepfather, a mentor, or a future father waiting for your opportunity, today is a day to celebrate you.

Happy Father’s Day!!!
